Background —

Through my work with Ministry of Sound over many years, I’d come into contact with a wide group of people who had worked there, performed there, or simply lived formative parts of their lives on its dancefloors. What became clear was that everyone had a story to tell.

I realised that a book built around these first-hand accounts would be a unique way to document one of the last great untold youth culture stories: how a brand evolved from an underground club in a forgotten South London warehouse into one of the most recognisable names in global music culture. I developed this concept and secured a deal with renowned New York-based publisher, Rizzoli.

Project —

As both author and designer, I had an all-encompassing role. I researched the history, identified and approached contributors, conducted and edited the interviews, undertook the writing, sourced archival club photography, tracked down rare ephemera from around the world, personally shot new studio photography and digitised old negatives, as well as executing the overall design and creative direction.

The book, complete with stories from the likes of Moby, David Morales, Honey Dijon, Steve Angello, Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong, DJ Harvey, Carl Craig, LTJ Bukem, Louie Vega and many more, is due for international release in September 2026.
